The trailer of Netflix India’s next web series ‘Betal’ has been released. It is a horror zombie series, made under the banner of Bollywood king Shah Rukh Khan’s production house Red Chillies Entertainment. Talking about the major starcast of Betal series, it includes Vikram Sirohi (Vineet Kumar), DC “Ahu” Ahluwalia (Ahana Kumra), Commandant Tyagi (Suchitra Pillai), Jitendra Joshi (Sacred Games), and Punia (Manjiri Pupala), etc. Huh. Now talk about the story of the series, it is the story of a hill named Betal where a cave is being reopened. Villagers believe that this hill is cursed with blood-thirsty two-century-old East-India Company colonel and his battalion. CIPD (Counter Insurgency Police Department) arrives to fight the army of this zombie.

The author, director and producer of Betal’s story is Patrick Graham, who had previously created Netflix. She is joined by Nikhil Mahajan (Baji) as a director and Suhani Kanwar (Lipstick Under My Burka) as a writer. In his statement, Graham said that he wanted to create a separate horror series after Gool, which is full of action. The concept of the old soul cursed hill is inspired by Indian mythology and has spent a lot of time watching the story of Zombie in popular fiction. The series itself creates a ghost story with action and suspense.

Betal is a series produced under Blumhouse Production and Red Chillies banner in India. Blumhouse is known for low-budget horror films such as Get Out, Paranormal Activity, The Purge, Insidious, Halloween, The Invisible Man. Earlier we got to see “Ghool” starring Radhika Apte under both these banners.

You must have seen Vineet Kumar, the lead actor of the series before Mukkabaaz and Bull’s Eye. Ahana Kumara has previously appeared in Lipstick Under My Burka and Voot Select’s ‘Marji’. Pillai was last seen in the Amazon Prime video series ‘Made in Heaven’. Jitendra Joshi is known for his great performance in Sacred Games. Manjiri Pupala has worked on the small screen Star Plus show ‘Ishqbaaz’.

Betal Netflix will have the fifth original series of 2020 in India, before the Jharkhand-based drama ‘Jamtara’ was released in January. Then the romantic drama ‘Taj Mahal 1989’ was released in February, then Imtiaz Ali’s crime drama ‘She’ came out in March and then Veer Das’s dark comedy ‘Cheerful’ is released in April.

Betal will release on Netflix on May 24.
