The Telecom Regulator of India (TRAI) has asked the telecom companies to increase the validity of prepaid users plans. TRAI has done this keeping in mind the corona virus lock down.
TRAI has asked Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and BSNL to increase the validity of their prepaid customers so that they do not face any problem in this national lockdown.

According to an ET report, on March 29, TRAI has written a letter to all these companies. In this letter, companies have been asked to take necessary steps to increase the validity for all prepaid users.
Along with this, TRAI has also sought information from these companies that what steps have been taken by the companies to continue service to the customers during national lock down.
According to the report, TRAI has said, ‘Since telecommunication is considered an essential service, it is kept separate from this lockdown and has not been closed’.
It is worth noting that a large part of the total cost of these companies are prepaid users. In such a situation, it has been asked to increase the validity of prepaid users. TRAI has said that if the purpose of keeping telecom separate from lockdown is that the customer service and point of sale location of these companies are not affected.
There is no statement of any company on this letter of TRAI, nor has any company announced to increase the validity for its prepaid users so far. It can be expected that soon these companies will announce to increase the validity for prepaid users.
Seeing the corona virus outbreak, the Indian government has locked it down for 21 days across the country. In such a situation, if companies extend the plans of all their prepaid users, then it will be good news for the users.
