WhatsApp Pay Beta has been available in India for the last two years, but now it has not been launched officially. The reason is that it is yet to get some permission in India. According to the report, WhatsApp Pay can be launched by the end of this month.

Earlier it was reported that the National Payments Corporation of India i.e. NPCI has allowed WhatsApp Pay to be launched in India and it will be launched in several stages.

In a money control report quoting two bankers monitoring this development of WhatsApp, a report claimed that WhatsApp Pay will go live at the end of this month.

WhatsApp has partnered with India’s top-3 banks for this. These include ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and HDFC Bank. According to the report, State Bank of India is not ready for the first phase.

A spokesperson of WhatsApp from Money Control has said, ‘We are continuously working with the government to give WhatsApp Payment to all users. Payment on WhatsApp can help 400 million users in safe transactions during COVID-19 in India ‘

Significantly, recently, WhatsApp’s parent company Faebook has invested in the Indian telecom company Reliance Jio. After this, it is now expected that together with WhatsApp and Jio, you can launch a super app where payment will also be an option.

At the moment, Jio has a Jio Money app, but if WhatsApp Pay comes, how will these two work together? At the moment it is not clear.
