May the Force be with you: make the most out of this tariff war

Reliance Jio has literally moved the Indian telecom market and triggered an intense tariff war between major telecom operators and this lead to the delight of the consumers.

Now With the free Jio services finally set to end on March 31, customers can either disconnect their Jio numbers or switch to Jio Prime plans which offers existing subscribers the opportunity to continue with their daily unlimited data caps. And this allow Jio to backed telecom operator to come up with new and updated plans offering unlimited data.

These 'unlimited data' plans seem extremely cheap on first look, but as the popular saying goes - the devil is in the details - all these plans have certain limitations which don't seem very apparent initially.

Have a look at it.

Reliance Jio

Rs 303/month: 1GB 4G data/day and unlimited voice calls to any operator (validity of 28 days)

Pay Rs 99 per year, become a Jio Prime member. Then get a Rs 303 recharge, which will allow the 1GB per day limit (after you cross this limit the speed is reduced to 128Kbps). Apparently Jio is now also offering 5GB extra data for the plan, though the official website doesn’t mention this yet. Jio has a booster pack for 5GB of data is worth around Rs 201.

Even without the 5GB extra data, Jio’s offer of 28GB 4G data for 28 days at Rs 303 for prepaid customers, and 30GB data for postpaid users in this same price band is a killer deal.

Though remember it comes with terms and conditions: there’s an FUP of 1GB per day, you can’t carry left over data to the next cycle, and also Jio is restricting hotspot capabilities with Prime to just one device.

Vodafone

Rs 346/month: 1GB 4G data/day and unlimited voice calls to any operator (validity of 28 days)

While this offer looks extremely attractive, it is not a permanent plan and is only on offer till March 15. Additionally, there is also a daily call cap of 300 calls alongside the 1GB/day limit.

For Vodafone customers there is no membership required to avail the offer. Additionally, every customer who recharges with these plans will be whitelisted, and can then continue with the same plan for the next 11 months.
